CCAMLR Tagging Program

Tagging Program Order Form

CCAMLR tags must be ordered in lots of 1 000.
For every 1 000 tags ordered a minimum of one tagging gun
must be purchased, however it is recommended that vessels
have spare tagging guns and needles on board for every trip. Therefore it is recommended
that at least two tagging guns per 1 000 tags be purchased, along with two spare needles per gun.

Tagging Kits

In addition to purchasing tags and tagging guns, a full tagging kit is also available for purchase (A$30.00).  Tagging kits contain the following items:

• one waterproof storage box large enough to hold tags, guns and spare needles;

• two plastic containers for storing damaged or partially used magazines, spare needles etc.;

• 40 tag recapture envelopes and four large envelopes addressed to CCAMLR for returning recaptured tags. Please make sure that all tags are cleaned thoroughly before placing into the envelopes, as Australian Quarantine authorities may prevent tags with traces of fish blood from entering Australia.

• one CCAMLR pen, one pencil, one eraser;

• two plastic bags;

• copy of the CCAMLR tagging protocol and instructions.

This photo shows the contents of the tagging kit, plus 2 000 tags, four tagging guns (each containing two needles) and an additional four spare needles.

Postage and Delivery Charges

Once you have completed the order form, email it to eric@ccamlr.org so the final postage charge can be calculated and added to the order and returned to you for confirmation and payment.  All orders must be paid in full before they will be dispatched.

Postage will normally be by registered parcel post, so please allow a minimum of three weeks for delivery.  If orders need to be express posted a courier such as FedEx or UPS will be used (please note that these costs will be significantly higher).

Returning Unused Tags and Refunds

It is recommended that all unused and damaged tags be returned to the Secretariat as part of the tagging program auditing process. The return postal address is:

Eric Appleyard
CCAMLR Tagging Program Coordinator
PO Box 213
North Hobart, Tasmania 7002
Australia

Refunds will be given for all unused tag magazines (a tag magazine is the unbroken sequence of 50 tags which feed into the tagging gun).
